As a network marketer, does the question “Is this a pyramid scheme?” annoy you?
Of course this has got to be one of the most basic ignorant questions in business history, and it blows your mind how people can still ask you, but what you may NOT know is:
You YOURSELF may be the reason the pyramid question comes up!
Now, you may be saying, “whoa whoa whoa, no way, not ME!” but please allow me to explain, so you know for sure…
Let’s go over some unconscious triggers that may have caused higher-end entrepreneurs to avoid your business… and how you can make it so that the pyramid conversation never comes up again…
First I Better Get Permission
Before we go there, I’ll have to ask you to leave your ego at the door and get humble so you can absorb what we’ve learned from working with the biggest (proven) legends in the industry.
I hope it’s ok to move into this coaching space with you… Yes?
Ok. I’m going to tell you what works.
This may not be comfortable, but it will be more valuable than and “fluffy” stuff.
WARNING:
Seriously, please don’t take any of this personal, because we’ve all been there. I had to humble myself with this too.
It will be valuable feedback, and will help you build your network marketing business.
The Pyramid Mentality
Now, I’m not even talking about “other” people just blurting silly questions like “is this a pyramid scheme?”.
I’m talking about a lot of MLM “leaders“, (and even some Master Distributors out there), who are completely blowing it for the industry.
They sometimes even unconsciously train their teams to have unprofessional thought processes and a pyramid mentality.
Some MLMers find a “new ground floor” opportunity, and go around talking about how there is “no opportunity left in the older ones”.
They have no idea that they shoot their own foot off with professionals, because what they are really saying is that later on there will be no opportunity in their company either.
This is literally why they are forced to jump around, company to company, forever on the hunt for the “new” thing, because that’s what they’ve positioned with, (which is completely contradictory to the whole WALK-AWAY INCOME/”Financial Freedom” scenario.)
I hear networking MLMers trash talk older companies other company’ comp plans and products, thinking it is a good strategy for building themselves up.
The reality is, it says everything about their character and it actually makes the whole industry look bad.
It’s not that they’re bad people. It’s just that maybe they are excited, (or hyped up) and have no training.
We Attract What We Are
A few days ago I heard another desperate amateur MLMer trying to talk another network marketer into their business, using the “hype” approach.
Amateurs sell people on the lie that it’s about “outside circumstances”, (like “a better comp plan” or products) that can determine someone’s success, or lack thereof.
Without realizing that it is about gaining specialized knowledge, skill and being valuable to others as a leader, you’re going to attract other’s who think with the same.
For those who think a “a different comp plan” or “a better product” is the answer, they will never find Success.
My millionaire mentors told me:
“If you don’t become a person of value, you will constantly attract quitters, whiners, and have attrition in your business. The quality of leaders and money will not appear in your business, until you become a valuable leader.”
Now, there are probably 100 things incorrect ways to “sell”, and it’s exactly why many people get the pyramid objection, but I’m just gonna hit on the first 7 big obvious reasons:
7 Initial Reasons You Be Attracting The Pyramid Objections And Mentality That Cause Attrition And Failure In Your Business
If you ever try to explain to someone that there is no opportunity in an “older company”, then you would be revealing your lack of business sense, on top of the fact that you have no integrity. (OUCH!)
Because if you honestly believe there will be no opportunity, (which is completely ignorant) when a company is “older”, in 20 years, then as you’re sponsoring people into your business right now, you are “knowingly” recruit people into your “pyramid scheme”, because in your mind, your people’s people’s people down the road are going to have absolutely no opportunity in 20 years, (so in your mind, you’re “knowingly” setting those future people up for failure, aren’t you?).
- The people who you are trying to tell that “there will be no opportunity later” immediately think you’re a moron, because it’s like saying, “ha, nobody is gonna buy an iphone 6, because “Apple is too old, and everyone already knows about it!” lol
Do you see how funny that sounds? Can you see the nonsense of that statement?
If it’s a high end prospect, they automatically assume you’re an uneducated pyramid mentality knucklehead that knows nothing about real business except “trying to be first”, (so you can sit on your ass while someone else does all the hard work and leadership building). - The people who you’re prospecting automatically know that you have no value to offer, simply because you’re saying that all the value lies in the company, and what matters is not you or your teams leadership, but just “being first”, and “the best compensation plan”.
Professionals know that being excited and “timing” means nothing without the “know how” and the leadership to make it happen, (by capturing the market share with other hard hitting professionals who have specialized skills that it takes to build structure and retention). - Every higher-end business mind instinctively knows that the older bigger companies have more structure and resources to invent and innovate bigger and better technology than startup companies.
Bigger companies don’t just invent new technologies, but they also have the resources to acquire the newest technology and innovation they need, in order to capitalize on their niche.
Startups and younger companies don’t have the resources or power to do what they would love to do, and most of them fail in the first 10 years.
In fact, you’ll be charged a hefty fee just to become a distributor if it’s a younger startup company. They need the money! - Did you know there’s been over 100,000 direct marketing companies invented, but there’s only been 12 of them to ever make it to $1Billion/year and keep growing?
If you do the numbers on that, it’s like a .001% chance of every making the real walk away income that they promise, if it is not already a solid Billion dollar per year company.
Entrepreneurs also know that only the amateurs jump around, company to company, thinking it’s something else beside themselves for why they struggle and fail. - It’s like arguing politics or religion. “My Dad’s horse is bigger than your Dad’s horse”. Nobody every wins, and they both walk away mad.
If you really want to attract, you must be VALUABLE, (and how valuable you are has nothing to do with which company you are with).
If a person can see your value, they’ll want to join you no matter what you’re doing, and it won’t EVER be because you talked bad about some other company. - When you have to talk down about another opportunity/business to try to build your opportunity/business up, it says a lot about your actual opportunity/business – it means the company can’t just stand on it’s own value.
If you have to tear someone else’s ANYTHING down to bring yourself up, then it not saying anything about the company, it’s saying something about YOU.
This network marketing business is hard enough as it is, so I always help whoever I can, so you can make it, because then it makes the whole industry look better!
