What is an “owned” professional?
From a young age, we have been asked the wrong questions.
Parents and teachers ask, “What do you want to
BE when you grow up?”
So we go and spend the first 25 years of our life thinking we need to BE somebody to make our family proud, but we never thought to think for ourselves and ask the more important question: “What do I want my life to be
LIKE?”. Most end of being a slave to the business. They don’t own their business – it owns them and all of their
time freedom.
So we invest tons of time and money to get a title, like “I’m a doctor” or “I’m a
this, I’m a
that“, so that when someone asks, we can answer with pride.
What most failed to understand until later in life, is what it really meant to be that title.
Why most skilled professionals feel owned by their profession.
How do you know if you’re “
owned“? Have you ever felt a slave to your business like most others? Are you always “too busy” to do the fun things outdoors? Have you been saying, “I just don’t have the time for that” a lot lately? Wouldn’t you rather be outside, enjoying life with your friends and family, instead of indoors, constantly chasing the money?
They say that hardest thing to do is
THINK, and the most uncomfortable thing to do is
GROW to do something you’ve never DONE before, to get what you’ve never HAD before.
Mentors of mine always say, “if you’re not at the level in life you want to be, but you defend your beliefs about business, then you’re STUCK, aren’t you?”
So can you grow to learn anything if you already “know it all”?
The value of a high “teach-ability index”
Do you “know it all” already, or are you teach-able?
Learning something “new” is extremely uncomfortable, and for “professionals”, it is the biggest challenge.
Why?
Because we have egos, we know everything, and we have invested so much time and money into what we thought we wanted to be, and we don’t want to have to go all the way back to the beginning to learn something “new” to be professional with. Also, once we are the “professional”, we start to think we know everything already, so it makes it very hard to actually listen and absorb information. You can’t LEARN anything if you already know it all!
This is where it gets hairy…
Are you a professional at what you DO, and nobody can replace you?
In other words, are you highly valuable, where you trade your time for big amounts of money?
Are you so skilled at what you do, that nobody can actually replace you, and you can not be duplicated?
This is the nightmare for most professionals.
This is what is called
linear income…
If you stop working, you stop getting paid.
According to statistics, most professionals are burned out by age 52, and still in debt up to their ears. They spent years in school but never learned about money or leverage. They would love to travel, experience the world, and spend more time with their loved ones, but they can’t, and it becomes more painful over time. Many professionals have built a lifestyle where they can not afford to stop working.
I have seen many close friends and family, (who don’t invest in their health and wellness, but chase money all day worrying about house and car payments), develop Dis-ease. It is sad to see the ones that thought “no, that’ll never happen to
me” go into bankruptcy and leave their kids in debt. Now, how important is that car to you after you develop Heart Disease, Diabetes, or Cancer? This is why the
number one reason for
bankruptcy today is
MEDICAL BILLS – yes, even the “millionaires”.
How do you become a professional of financial and time freedom?
It’s time to invest into yourself. The “how” is not important right now. Make the decision to open your mind to “new” ideas. You must learn what you
didn’t know before, to get what you’ve never HAD before. You owe it to yourself to do whatever it takes, to get what you’ve never had before.
Check in with yourself:
WHY do you want to make money?
What are you
REALLY looking for? It’s definitely not to be a slave to your business or practice, is it?
What is important in your life? What is your purpose here on Earth?
What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about money?
If you get clear on your “
why“, you’ll figure out the “
how“!
I’m not saying it will be easy, but I’m saying it will be
WORTH IT!
Get clear on your WHY. Make a decision.
The reality is, money comes and goes, but you will never get your TIME back. I missed some of the most valuable time with my kids, and I regret every minute I was gone chasing linear money. I should have been working on leveraged residual income. I was young and didn’t have the wisdom yet. I now understand that wealth is not measured in money. It is measured in quality of life.
It is called TIME and FINANCIAL FREEDOM! I am so glad I made the decision to learn and grow into the person I needed to be, in order to get what I wanted.
I don’t merely “exist” to chase money any more. I now get to live life, spend time with my loved ones, travel the world, and teach others how to get the life I live. Thank you God! #NeveraCaseOfTheMondays!
