How To Sprint Through The 4 Levels Of Network Marketing Competence

Have you been feeling anxious about when the heck is your business gonna take off? When I was younger, I thought I was all smart-n-junk! Like other naive teenagers, I thought the adults were “repetitive and boring”. Of course later I found out that I didn’t even know what I didn’t know. (“Unconscious Incompetence”). Right now you may think people care about the features of your product or how fast your company is growing. This would be the same as someone approaching Daniel-son caring about some karate product features… he would probably be like “HUH?!” lol! He’s only concerned with what he wants, which was to learn karate, and he knows he needs to be taught by someone who knows best. He eventually came to realize you can only learn from a proven “Master” himself, right? So as you begin to gain skills in network marketing, your ego may also grow and you may really think you already “know a bunch”! You may even think you’ve “heard it before” and not want to show up to conventions, events, trainings, or workshops, but you would be dead wrong. You’ll know you’re at a stage called “Conscious Competence” when you know how to overcome objections, but you may have to think about what to say (and you may even stumble) when objections come up, instead of effortlessly enrolling a prospect simply by reflex. Later you’ll find out how ridiculous it was to think that you knew everything there was to know. Same thing with professional networking, I had to drop my ego and get humble in order to grow to the next level. The “Masters”, as I call them, who had the high level results I wanted, would not even bother to invest their time into me if I was not coach-able or “fixed” in my old belief system of how I was going to get results. If Having A High “Teach-ability Index” Was Easy, Everyone Would Have Financial And Time Freedom

We all say we are “totally coach-able”, but it’s not true. This is tricky: For different results, I couldn’t keep doing the same thing over and over and over again, could I? OK, so I had to get open for change, or at least some “course correction”. But wait, does that mean you have to admit that you have been doing it “wrong”? Not all the way, but it does put a dent in our armor, (aka, our ego). We subconsciously fight change or new ideas, not wanting to “cut our losses” on the time investment we already put into an old way or old ideas. Your old beliefs, experiences, and fear of the unknown, get in the way, as you unconsciously sabotage your own growth, thinking you’ll have to “start all over”. This new growth is extremely uncomfortable, but it is worth it! So here are 3 first signs you may have a LOW Teach-ability Index:

  1. Are You Talking Or Listening? If you find yourself talking a lot, then it means you’re not doing a lot of learning. If you’re talking, you’re only repeating what you already know, so you will not be learning anything new. It is impossible to learn anything if you’re talking at the same time. You’re not listening, you’re talking, and if you notice, many times, those who talk the most, actually seem to know the least. This is not a coincidence. God gave you two ears and only one mouth for a reason. If you’re not the smartest one in the room, then you should not be talking, but asking more questions, especially if a master is near.
  2. Are You Hearing? (or LISTENING) If you are hearing someone, it means you are only pretending to be listening, but you are not being mentally present.Really, you’re just “hearing” that the other person is talking, but not absorbing the information, or looking at it from their point of view! If you are thinking of what you’re going to say next, before they are even done talking, then that is proof you were not listening. You were only waiting for your own chance to talk. If you want to be gifted, then be present.
  3. Are You A Born Leader? (There’s a challenge with it.) If there is a real system in place, then you better be ready to follow, and not try “lead” others right away, especially if you have no results yet. Your challenge is, (especially in Home Business), that we got introduced from a friend or family member that has absolutely no idea how to build or market a business, or leverage your number game using the internet. Now, you, (or they) may have been doing the leading as a professional in another field, but you’re not a master in this new game yet. Have a high teach-ability index by knowing that you don’t know everything, and be open to course correction and consultation.Many times when professionals come into the Home Business arena, we try to go right into a leading space, telling people how to do it, skipping important next level mastery training, doing it “our own way”, and reinventing the wheel instead of following a proven master in that specific area. If you don’t have the results you desire, but you stick to (and defend) your beliefs, then you are stuck, aren’t you? This wastes tons of your energy and time. It also causes major frustration for impatient go-getter types, and is the reason 97% of people eventually fizzle out, quit, and fail. Now that you know the difference, you can move through the stages of unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, conscious competence, and unconscious competence MORE QUICKLY, for mastery.
